Neighbourhood Plan – Langford Parish Council Bedfordshire

On Thursday 23rd September 2021 the Langford Neighbourhood Plan was put to a referendum for the electorate of the village to decide if they wanted the plan to be considered by Central Bedfordshire Council to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

A total of 998 residents voted in the referendum (34.8% of the electorate of Langford).

96.39% voted YES (The plan needed to achieve 50%+1 yes votes to win the referendum). This led to the Langford Neighbourhood Plan being adopted and becoming a statutory document that CBC would have to take the contents of into consideration when determining planning applications.

On Wednesday 29th September 2021 Langford Neighbourhood Plan was formally adopted as part of the development plan for Central Bedfordshire, following successful independent examinations and local referendums.

The inaugural meeting of what would become the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group took place on 20th June 2018, so despite the big obstacle of Covid-19 thrown into the mix the Group did an amazing job to get to Referendum a little over 3 years later. Many hundreds of work hours later we are delighted Langford can proudly boast a robust plan!

Our huge thanks go to the Steering group who, without their hard work, commitment and tenacity this would not have been possible.

The Langford Neighbourhood Plan (revised May 2023) can be viewed below. “CBC approved this revised Plan in May 2023 but subsequently withdrew their approval in February 2024 as there was a fault with their approval process. A further revision is being developed and will be resubmitted to CBC”

The Revision mentioned was subsequently approved
